Adversity is a foe that presents itself with many faces. Everyone has faced this opponent at some point, most often at our seemingly lowest moments. Whether hardship is self-imposed or the result of an external force, we each process the encounter in our own unique way.
Occasionally, we break, crumbling in a dusty cloud. Sometimes we bend and sway from the pressure like a willow bowing to the breeze. At others we stand firm as a rock, unmoving and impervious. And yet at still other times we push forward and break through, making it to “the other side” earning personal growth; like the flower that grows through a tiny crack in the concrete. The tenacious will to survive.
Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves as we really are.
